While Active Security may sound like a legitimate security protection application, it is actually a rogue security program that is incapable of performing any of the actions it claims.  This program purposely advertises fake security threats to the user, stating that their computer is infected.  This is how the creators make their money – by tricking people into purchasing the product using scare tactics.

This application is promoted through Trojans and fake online scanners.  While you are surfing or doing other activities on your computer, misleading security threat warnings will be displayed often.  Active Security encourages you to download their scan in order to detect the threats so that they can then remove them.  What they don’t tell you is that once these supposed infections are found, you have to purchase the product to get rid of them.  It really doesn’t matter; this program cannot scan your PC, so detecting and removing any threats is a mute point.

The files that are displayed once the fake scan is run are usually harmless files, so you shouldn’t be too concerned about them.  What you should be concerned about is if this program becomes installed on your computer, it can cause damage to your PC and access personal information.  This software is malware, which is what it claims to remove.  Your computer may become sluggish or unstable, as these applications use an enormous amount of your system resources and run constantly in the background, hidden from you.

Active Security may access your personal passwords, credit card numbers and other private information.  Some people have actually become the victims of identity theft because of these malicious programs.  If you find that any malware is installed on your PC, you should remove it at once to avoid further problems and possible damage.  These applications commonly install when you download other files, visit questionable websites that may not be secure, or through spam emails.

Many people are tempted to try to remove malware themselves, and it can be done.  However, this process is not an easy one and puts your PC at risk of damage.  All running processes must be killed, and related files and values deleted.  It is recommended that you use a reliable antispyware tool to remove Active Security or any other infections and parasites that may exist.  Make certain you get a program that is 100% guaranteed, so that total security is restored and you are protected in the future!
